Your Role: As an IT Network Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our complete network infrastructure. Our network is built on fiber optic, copper, and wireless technologies and consists of both Industrial and Enterprise Network components. You are ambitious and capable of analyzing and optimizing RWG’s networks to enhance the reliability and performance of our high-tech container terminal. You ensure the availability, reliability, and security of all networks, data center connectivity, internet, and external accesses.

Your Role: As an IT Network Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our complete network infrastructure. Our network is built on fiber optic, copper, and wireless technologies and consists of both Industrial and Enterprise Network components. You are ambitious and capable of analyzing and optimizing RWG’s networks to enhance the reliability and performance of our high-tech container terminal. You ensure the availability, reliability, and security of all networks, data center connectivity, internet, and external accesses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage network infrastructures.
- Identify security risks and implement appropriate measures.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to align the network architecture with business objectives.
- Maintain, support, and carry out daily checks of the complete RWG network infrastructure (configuration, patching, monitoring, wireless, radio speech).
- Formulate responses to cyber threats and carry out preventive actions.
- Identify the causes of failures and problems and prepare/plan permanent changes to eliminate or reduce uninterrupted problems.
- Development, testing, acceptance, and production implementation (DTAP) of network-related changes.
- Coordinate and plan changes with ICT infrastructure suppliers.
- Document/maintain network infrastructure.
- Solve problems together with the Engineering department including fieldwork.
- A HBO work and thinking level.
- Extensive work experience as a Network Engineer in a similar role in a business-critical 7x24h IT environment.
- Availability for the consignment service.
- Recent relevant experience with switches, routers, DNS/DHCP, and Next-generation firewalls.
- In-depth knowledge of wireless, network protocols, and technologies.
- Experience with Network Virtualization (VMware).
- Knowledge of Cisco, F5 technology, Microsoft Azure, Palo Alto, and Automation of processes.
- Knowledge of operating systems, including Windows and Linux.

- A gross salary of up to € 6,700 per month based on 38.75 hours per week.
- Holiday pay and 28 vacation days.

- Consignment service fee of 7.5%.
- Travel allowance, maximum € 200.00 net per month. Together with your supervisor, you determine whether your location is the Waalhaven in Rotterdam or the terminal on the Maasvlakte 2. You will be present at the terminal a few days a week.
